My
oldest daughter Denise started showing dogs at the age of four at
matches. We had bought her grandfather a sheltie, named "Foxie",
and Denny showed her in obedience as she wasn't old enough for Juniors.
Denny had shown horses in the summer, but wanted to do something in the
winter months, and this is one reason why we got into dogs. After
showing "Foxie" at matches, and always being in the ribbons,
we decided to go to AKC shows, getting 2 legs on "Foxie", but
sadly, shortly thereafter we lost "Foxie" to kidney failure.
At age five Denny started with the sheltie that we got her for her
birthday: Thursday's Cotton Hill Buffy - "Buffy" got 3 legs in
3 shows. Later we bought Illusions High Reflection - "Tate", a
male Denny showed in breed, until she was old enough to show in Juniors.
Meanwhile she showed for others in various breeds; Pointers,
Dachshunds, Japanese Chins, Salukis, Corgis, Doberman Pinschers, and of
course Shelties.
At age 10 Denny and Illusions High Reflection -"Tate" earned
enough points in Juniors to go to Westminster.
I am mostly in the background teaching Obedience, Handling &
Agility. I used to be a 4-H Dog Leader and have experience putting on
Matches for the public.
